“Tracks”
Acrylic on Canvas
“Tracks” is a Birds Eye View of Town Beach In Broome, Western Australia.
It is painted with a Palette Knife using High Quality Archival Acrylic Paints.
Town Beach in Broome, is famous for its vivid colours and distinctive Mangrove Tree’s. The tidal flats of the Pindan soil create ridges that collect little puddles of water and sea life, making it a bird’s dream delicacy. Town Beach is also famous for “The Staircase to the Moon”
“I use over 12 layers of paint to create a lustrous texture that is radiant and glossy. You can get lost in the depths of the underlying colours and feel the healing movement of the Turquoise Water meeting the Red “Pindan” soil” — Libby Muhling
“Illyarrie”
Acrylic on Canvas
The ‘Illyarrie’ tree is spectacular when in flower. The contrasting bright Yellow flowers are like fireworks and finding the Red bud caps on the ground after they fall is a child’s delight.
“A childhood memory of finding these little Red bud caps and making things with them was a favourite pastime of mine. This artwork represents the playful, bold and exciting adventures we would go on to find them in our neighbourhood” — Libby Muhling
“Baby Blue”
Acrylic on Canvas
This “Baby Blue” Wren is soft and sweet. Freshly, washed and fluffed to start his day.
“The focal point of this little one was to create soft, curved, thin lines that blended between dark and light tones within each brushstroke. His journey is yet to begin”— Libby Muhling
“Banksia” and “King Protea”
Acrylic On 100% Belgian Linen / Medium Grain 300g/m2
This set of two contemporary Dried Native Flowers represent the organic, sculptural characteristics of the leaves and stems that often go brown before the flower. It symbolizes the precious beauty and wisdom these flowers hold, even when they have died.
“I used a limited colour palette and a combination of smooth, broad, textured brush strokes over several layers, highlighting imperfections within the dried leaves. They look how they would feel. The flower is dramatic and bold within its striking beauty.” — Libby Muhling
“Larrkardiy" - Boab Tree
Acrylic on canvas
The mystical and spiritual presence of the “Larrkardiy” in the vast land of the Kimberley, is unique to this magnificent part of Western Australia.
“The start of the ‘Wet Season’ the Larrkardiy blooms with a brilliant green leaf, amongst the dry grasses that blow in the dusty wind. Its unique shape and character are like no other and one of my favourite landscapes to paint. Especially at sunset”— Libby Muhling
“Set Of Three”
Acrylic On 100% Belgian Linen / Medium Grain 300g/m2
This “Set of Three” Blue and White, Hampton’s-inspired artworks were created with a limited colour palette.
“I have a great love of the ‘Ocean’ and a collection of BIG beautiful Seashells in my home. I can always hear the Ocean’s sound whenever I put them to my ear, transporting me to the Seaside. The limited colour palette was wonderful to work with, assembling the structure and shapes within the layers of the Seashells and Seaweed”— Libby Muhling
“Geraldton Wax”
Acrylic on Canvas
“The ‘Pink Princess’ of the bush with its show stopping blooms is one of my favourite flowers. I wanted to capture the comical shapes and expressive composition of the ‘Geraldton Wax’ flower. The use of negative and positive space, along with energetic colours evolved through the layers of paint creating an iridescent, vibrant and joyful artwork.”— Libby Muhling
“Beagle Bay”
Acrylic and Mixed Medium on Canvas
Beagle Bay is a small First Nations settlement inland from the Kimberley Coast, travelling along the main road out from Broome to Cape Leveque. This artwork is painted with a Palette Knife using High Quality Archival Acrylic Paints.
“The Wet Season is my favourite season in the Kimberley, with its spectacular thunderstorms and lightning. With over 20 layers of paint, I wanted to build contrast between light and dark shades, reflecting the Oceans colours and movement in the ‘Wet Season’. The rolling, saturated dark clouds draw you in as the rain descends in the distance, ready to wash away the Pindan and refresh the land and Sea”— Libby Muhling
